December is here! It's been a while since our last entry and all of you are probably wondering: why the silence? Well apart from spending time with my awesome Couchsurfers, I've been busy with work and planning my move early next year. Alice and I did somehow find time between our differing schedules, to host a dumpling session! Through this session we saw progress within our project and gathered plenty of constructive feedback.
As our dumpling fillings vary in taste and texture, this was a very important session for us to agree on what should go into our dumplings. Everyone rated our dumplings according to taste and texture out of 5 marks each, with the option for additional comments on the side. Several hours later, Alice and I had managed to compromise and blend our fillings based on our tasters' invaluable input.
We decided on two types of dumplings that we would serve up at 8Folds; pork and vegan dumplings. You're probably wondering why vegan? Well, we are veganizing our dumplings because of the many friends we have both met in our lifetime who were either vegetarians or vegans; and the many more we will meet along the way and would like to share our food with! We also decided on pork dumplings because it is a popular choice of meat between both Portuguese and Chinese cultures. We also happen to have two different folding styles which are perfect, as we will never have to worry about serving up the wrong dumplings to our customers!
You may have probably read Alice's entry as well and know that this wasn't only all work for us. We shared the wonderful art and history of making dumplings with our friends, after which we also played lots of beautiful music together. Since we've shared the idea of 8Folds with friends and new friends, the most unlikely yet positive-and-frequent question we've encountered is -- What can I do to help? Our response? Come and share this journey with us in June! We only have a vague idea of what needs to be done and we have a steep learning curve; but we are determined to find our niche in life and share our journey with everyone.
