Alice says...

last night, i fell in love with portugal :)

it's been a interesting few weeks, always something different to take in, new people to meet, new friends to make. every week has had its own flavour....the first week was about moving in and setting up in a new home, while getting over jetlag. (it took a few days to remember where i was each time i woke up in the morning.)  the second week was about finding my own ground here- exploring my new neighbourhood, making friends around my new place and preparing food for the upcoming festival. last week was about cooking, and celebrating with the city and sharing our food with all the happy people (which went great by the way!)
this week- well this week feels very special, and it's a nice feeling :) it's been a great start- selina and i just started hosting couchsurfers in our place here and have had a wonderful time exploring lisboa together with them. we started teaching them how to make springrolls the same night that they arrived, and then spent the rest of weekend chasing things like the best portuguese tarts in lisbon, and ice cream, and of course, sardines! we had a sad goodbye to them early monday morning, only to find ourselves out with another traveler later that day for some live fado (traditional portuguese music, so full of passion...) we had no idea that we would be suddenly immersed in a night of heart-wrenching performances, funny and wonderful company, and all the locals who knew of the secret talent hiding in this tiny, cozy bar every monday night. it was like magic! a small world that only exists if you know about it. i felt so privileged and special that i got to be there for such a night and it made me realize that it really feels like home for me here now.  it feels so good to be here; every morning when i wake up i'm happy and i feel so lucky to have this life :)

and that's all that i wanted to share with you tonight. there is much more to say but i'll save it for next time ;)

much love to everyone! xxx
